The perfect chest exercise is… You see the thing is, unless you are a competitive bodybuilder I can’t really imagine a reason to do the perfect chest exercise. You are not just a chest. You are a whole person with many interconnecting muscles.
Fitness to me is the ability to lift, run, jump, twist, move without injury. We need strength, flexibility, joint stability and cardio fitness. Train movement patterns with multiple joint exercises. Feel free to do bench presses but not to the exclusion of the rest of your body.
Grab some dumbells and hold at your shoulders, squat until your upper leg is parallel with the floor then stand and press the weights overhead. That is a total body movement which requires strength, stability and flexibility. Add some pushups and some chinups and you have a great workout
I have to stop reading. The New York Times has another article about the value of cola drinks. This time it’s kidney disease. I will get back to writing about exercise soon.
I see these commercials all the time. America runs on Dunkin. The people are all very active fueled by donuts I guess. Um, no.
Wake it up people, marketers, Government.
From an article in Men’s Health, http://www.menshealth.com/16secrets/secretdunkindonuts.html
Dunkin doesn’t want you to know that each of its medium-size fruit-and-yogurt smoothies packs at least 60 grams of sugar—more than four times the sugar in a chocolate-frosted cake doughnut. The fruit purees used in the smoothies are mixed with liberal doses of sugar and/or high-fructose corn syrup.
The new year has come again. Have you made some tired resolutions to improve your fitness, lose some weight or eat better? I hope it works this year…
Why are you still in need of resolutions?
You are worth taking care of. You are all you really have.
Today is the day to make the change! Not next week, not tomorrow, do it today.

Here is a link to an article in the NY Times. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/12/05/a-high-price-for-healthy-food/
It is a comparison between the price of junk food and healthy foods. Check it out.
Is there really a reason you can’t eat properly or exercise regularly?
Here are some of my favorite excuses. These are the ones I hear every day. I may have even used one of these myself.
I don’t have time. (You haven’t made time. Is your health more important?)
I love the taste of Diet Coke. I could never give that up. (OK seriously are you five years old?)
I’m too (old, young, fat, etc.) to get in shape. (Just think about it. If you are above ground you are just right.)
I don’t like vegetables. (You need the nutrients. Food is fuel.)
I don’t like to work my legs. (Always dudes. You have a whole body, train it.)
I’ll get too big if I lift weights. (Always the ladies. There are hundreds of guys in every gym trying to get bigger and it isn’t happening. It is just not that easy, especially without testosterone.)
Oh the picture up above, what is his excuse?
You can lose the weight.
Are you eating many processed foods? Check. Are you drinking soft drinks? Check.
Do you hate vegetables? Check. Are you eating once or twice a day? Check.
Are you exercising less than three times per week? Check.
Are you just dreaming about losing weight?
Don’t wait another six months to start.
